USACO Bronze Accelerator – Advanced Algorithms (Part 2 / Semester 2)

Curriculum

Course Overview

Welcome to USACO Bronze Accelerator – Advanced Algorithms (Part 2 / Semester 2).

This course is the second semester of our year-long USACO Bronze Accelerator program. Part 1 and Part 2 together form one complete curriculum, providing students with a structured path from foundational concepts to advanced USACO Bronze problem-solving.

For convenience and flexibility, the program is offered in two semesters. The curriculum below represents the complete USACO Bronze Accelerator syllabus, with the foundational topics introduced in Part 1 and the more advanced algorithms and contest strategies covered in Part 2.

Complete Curriculum

Throughout the full program, students will learn:

  • Simulation – Modeling and simulating real-world scenarios step by step
  • Search Algorithms – Brute force, exhaustive search, and introductory binary search
  • Recursion – Solving problems using recursive thinking
  • Sorting – Built-in sorting, custom comparators, and practical applications
  • Graph Basics – Graph representation and fundamental graph traversal
  • Greedy Algorithms – Making locally optimal decisions to solve problems efficiently
  • Geometry – Coordinates, grids, distance calculations, and geometric reasoning
  • Set & Map – Efficient data storage and lookup using STL containers
  • Ad Hoc Problems – Logical reasoning and pattern recognition
  • File I/O – Reading from and writing to files using the USACO format
  • Debugging & Edge Cases – Finding and fixing logical, runtime, and corner-case errors

Semester Breakdown

Part 1 (Semester 1): Core programming techniques and foundational USACO Bronze algorithms.

Part 2 (Semester 2): Advanced USACO Bronze algorithms, more challenging problem-solving techniques, and intensive contest practice.

Course Features

  • Hands-on practice with weekly coding exercises and authentic USACO Bronze problems
  • Guided walkthroughs with detailed algorithm explanations
  • Weekly instructor support, Q&A, and code reviews
  • Recorded lessons, notes, and complete code examples for flexible learning

Ideal For

  • Students with a basic understanding of C++ ( Java/Python also OK)  who want to begin competitive programming
  • Students preparing for USACO Bronze or similar programming contests
  • Middle and high school students building strong algorithmic thinking
  • Anyone interested in improving problem-solving and programming skills

Duration

Each semester runs for 12–16 weeks, with one session per week (1–2 hours per session).

Prerequisites

Students should be familiar with basic C++/Java/Python programming, including variables, loops, arrays, and functions. Prior programming experience is recommended.

Materials Included

  • Video lessons and annotated problem walkthroughs
  • Weekly homework and challenge problems
  • Code solutions and AI tutor at https://coding.comrite.com

Outcome

Students who complete both Part 1 and Part 2 will have covered the full USACO Bronze Accelerator curriculum and will be well prepared to solve USACO Bronze contest problems with confidence.

Join us and build a strong foundation in competitive programming!
